It was a great experience hosting our very first 📚 Big Bookworms meet-up 🐛 attended by Vansh, Jay, Neil, Jainil, Akshath, Aviv, Afdal and Tanima, at the Rooftop Garden tonight. The cool breeze and well-lit venue created the perfect setting for our very first ice-breaker meeting.
We started the meeting with a fun game to get to know each other better -"Whodunit?!" Eventually we learned some cool, some funny and some super surprising facts about our book club mates. Did you know one of our members studied in a school that used to be a palace, and another one got detention for speaking fluent French in his Arabic class by mistake?
After the intriguing introduction round, we proceeded to share our expectations and suggestions for the book club- each of us discussed how often we'd like to meet and what activities we'd like to do. This was a fruitful discussion with lots of interesting suggestions from each member. There was a unanimous vote for meeting as often as possible, which was so lovely to hear! Some other great ideas were a milkshake swap in addition to a book swap (good one, Jay!), designing book covers (arty, Vansh!), play creative games (yes, Jainil!), share book recommendations (true bookworm, Neil!), give books ratings and reviews (discerning, Akshath!), have read-aloud sessions (nice idea, Aviv!), do a QnA after the books we read (very dedicated, Afdal!) and choose a different venue each time (heard you, Tanima!).
To flex our vocabularies and drawing skills, we then played a game of Pictionary. Some really great words were drawn and guessed by each team, kudos to all the members for participating wholeheartedly and really getting into the spirit of the game.
Finally, we ended the session by swapping our books with our friends and bade each other goodbye- until next time!
Thanks to the enthusiastic children and their mummies for another fun meet-up. 😀
