From princesses to superheroes, and Big Friendly Giants to squeaky little mice, the Al Jimi Avenue Rooftop hosted an interesting assortment of creatures last evening. In honour of World Book Day 2023, Bookworms of all ages and sizes came dressed up as their favourite characters, to share their love of stories with each other.
All of the Bookworms came up confidently and introduced themselves and their characters to their friends one-by-one. We had Wonder Woman, Spiderman, Batman, Matilda, Sophie and the BFG, The Cat in the Hat, Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty, Little Red Riding Hood, Itachi Uchiha, a Minion, Hello Kitty, Owlet, Minnie Mouse, Tom and Jerry, Harley Quinn, and even Masha!
Then we moved on to sharing some sweet treats, and finally the most exciting part of the evening- the Book Exchange! Each child brought a well-loved book and added it to the mix, and went home with a new book to read. I want to thank Ms. Beena, who donated 30+ books to our humble little book club back in December 2022. The children were delighted by the selection, and each of these books has found a new home on the occasion of World Book Day.
I hope you enjoyed this little recap video. The efforts that each of the children took in selecting their character, and making the costumes, complete with props, was commendable. All the parents in attendance were blown away by the level of detail and the overall variety of guises. Thank you mummies and daddies for participating in the Al Jimi Bookworms' World Book Day celebrations with so much gusto; it's what keeps us going. ❤️
