Meeting #7: M-M-Midis m-m-meet the Little Bookworms

It was a warm and breezy Saturday morning... some eager Little Bookworms and Midi Bookworms made their way up to the Rooftop to meet each other after the long summer break. Arohi, Anaika, Rishi, Vedansh, Kavni, Shraddha, Jiya, Mysha, Yuuvh and Rehansh turned up for our 📚 7th Al Jimi Bookworms Meet-up 🐛.

We began the meeting with a round of introductions as each of the Bookworms shared their name, age and date of birth with their friends. After this we jumped right into story time, and I read out loud "Monkey and Me" by Emily Gravett. The book was well received and we shared a few laughs as we enjoyed the antics of the little girl and her monkey who met one interesting creature after another.

After this, we practised making the sound /m/ with our mouths and even had a little competition to see who could "mmmmm" for the longest time! We learned how to write the letter M and took turns to show our friends how well we can write it on the white board.

It was then time to play our word game- we jumped up every time we heard a word that started with the /m/ sound. All the Little and Midi Bookworms did really well in this game as we tackled some easy ones like "mat" and "mother" and also some confusing words such as "ambulance" and "umbrella". Through this game, we learned how to assess the beginning sound of words and also had fun moving our bodies.

Rehansh had brought a m-m-mouse and Jiya brought a m-m-mug to show their friends for Show-and-Tell. Following this, we paired up for our "Read to Me" Session which was admittedly everyone's favourite part of the meeting. Jiya and Anaika read "The Great Inventor" and "The Lion and the Mouse" to each other, Kavni and Shraddha read "How the Zebra got His Stripes" and "The Frog and the Mouse", Mysha and Arohi read "The Talent Day Mix up" and "The Beauty and the Beast", and Rehansh read to Rishi the book "Dig, Scoop Ka-Boom!" while Yuuvh told Vedansh the story of "The Ants and The Grasshopper". Each of the little readers had their friends engaged and listening intently to their stories- well done all of you!

Finally, we said our goodbyes and enjoyed some treats shared by Jiya and Rishi's mums. I had a great m-m-morning and look forward to m-m-meeting with you all soon again!
